How to set up an AI inside sales rep in Claude

Setup takes about 10 minutes on a computer. You turn on code execution, add four skills, make a project and text "Set me up." After that, you use it from the Claude app on your phone.

Setting up RMDI Inside Rep takes about ten minutes on a computer, and you only do it once. One thing first: your price list belongs to your company, so check your AI policy before you upload the real one. Today, we'll use the practice files. Step one. Sign in at claude.ai. Open Settings, then Capabilities, and turn on code execution. That's what lets it run the math. While you're in Settings, open Privacy, and turn off Help improve our AI models, so your chats aren't used for training. Step two. Go to Customize, then Skills, and upload the four files from the kit: setup, proposal, exchange and forecast. Switch each one on. Step three. Make a project called My territory. It keeps your files in one place. Step four. Open a chat in that project and type: Set me up. It asks for one thing at a time: your name, your price list, your accounts and your sales. Type skip for anything you don't have yet. Your price list alone is enough for proposals. That's it. Now open the Claude app on your phone, go to My territory, and text it like a coworker.

What do I need before I start?

A Claude account. Any plan can add the skills; Pro gives you more room than Free.
Your price list as a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel). That alone is enough for proposals.
Optional: your account list (name and account number), 12 months of sales for the forecast, current promotions, and a proposal and exchange email you've sent before, so new ones look like yours.
Your company's OK. Your price list and customer list may belong to your employer. Check your company's AI policy before uploading them. Until then, use the made-up practice files.
No patient information, ever: no patient names, charts or referral letters.

Setup, step by step

Turn on code. On claude.ai, click your name or initials (bottom left), then Settings, then Capabilities. Switch on Code execution and file creation. This lets Claude run the math programs. While you're in Settings, open Privacy and switch off Help improve our AI models.
Add the four skills. Go to Customize, then Skills. Upload rep-setup, rep-proposal, rep-exchange and rep-forecast, and make sure all four are switched on. You do this once; they then work in every chat, on your phone too.
Make a project. Click Projects, then New project. Name it "My territory". A project keeps your files together so the assistant can find them.
Say "Set me up." Start a new chat in the project. It asks for one thing at a time: your name, company and where orders and exchanges go; your price list; an old proposal; promotions; your account list; an old exchange email; and 12 months of sales. Type "skip" or "later" at any step.
Switch to your phone. Open the Claude app, go to the project, and text it.

What do I text it once it's set up?

"Proposal for Valley Surgery Center: 6 devices at 20% off, 10 connectors at 25%, instrument kit no charge."
"Make the connectors 30%." Then: "Looks good, save it."

"Check my setup." Use this anytime an answer looks off.

How do I know the math came from the programs?

Every proposal, exchange and forecast ends with a line naming the program that computed it. If that line is missing, the numbers didn't come from the program; ask it to run the script. See the formulas and worked examples.

Does it work in ChatGPT or Copilot?

Use Claude for now. A ChatGPT version that runs the same programs inside a ChatGPT project is built and not yet tested. Microsoft Copilot works only through a company's Microsoft 365 Copilot, installed by its IT team; personal Copilot can't add skills.

What can't it do yet?

It can't send email, read your inbox or run on a schedule. Copy its drafts into your own email. Once a month, upload your newest sales export and price list and delete the old files from the project.
